UPSTREAM seeks to understand and communicate how those in control of urban development can make human health a top priority.
We intend to help reframe the UK debate around health and the built environment, contribute to understanding, shape developments in policy and practice, alter behaviour and build skills within the urban development sector. Urban developments and their consequences on health take many years – often decades – to manifest (while our project runs for three years), so we will concentrate on reasonably demonstrating how and where our activities either have contributed or have further potential to contribute to improvements in the delivery of healthy urban development.
Our approach to impact has been built in to the project from the very start and is founded on the co-creation and delivery of research by knowledge brokers and academics working in active partnership.
