Overview

With over 70% of the world’s population expected to live in cities by 2050, the urban development decisions we make today will affect the health of this growing urban population. After all, our health is determined not only by the choices we make; where we live also counts.

Our City Our Health is a UWE project that allows Bristolians to explore how the city’s urban environment is impacting their health and to have their say on what we can do to make the city more livable.

Shape Our City is just one of ways in which the public can engage with these matters. It is a new take on otherwise boring consultations! Step inside to explore how you might make decisions as a city developer if you knew the cost savings that could be made to citizens. Tradeoffs have to be made – what will you prioritise if given the power?

As you make investments you will notice that the cities health starts to improve. If you make certain changes you will also improve air quality, lessen the impacts of climate change and reduce non-communicable disease. Can you tell which interventions have this affect?
